Our students won three first prizes at the 2nd Guizhou Life Science Innovation & Entrepreneurship Competition for College and University Students
 

On August 15, the 2nd Guizhou Life Science Innovation & Entrepreneurship Competition for College and University Students organized by the Steering Committee for Guizhou College and University Students' Life Science Competition and undertaken by Liupanshui Normal University came to an end at the Liupanshui Normal University. Three innovation teams from GMU participated in the competition, winning three first prizes for innovation.

A total of 63 innovation teams and 9 entrepreneurship teams from colleges and universities in the province participated in this competition. It was carried out both in online remote and offline manners. That is, students replied remotely over the network, while judges reviewed their replies intensively offline. Liu Hongmei, Assistant Dean of GMU School of Biology & Engineering, and Hu Zuquan, a professor of GMU, participated in the competition as judges. After fierce competition, our students won three first prizes for innovation by virtue of three projects — "Prognostic Analysis on Tumor-Infiltrating Immune Cells and Immune-Related Genes in Gastric Cancer Tumor Microenvironment" (students: Liu Yongfen, Guan Weili, and Qin Peng; instructors: Ouyang Yan and Zhou Houming), "Prokaryotic Expression Condition Optimization and Activity Detection for Fusion Protein for Single-Chain Antibody" (students: Li Shuqin, Li Shimei, Yuan Yue, He Xingkai, and Lu Panpan; instructors: Hu Zuquan and Zeng Zhu), and "Prognostic Model Established for Patients with Gastric Cancer and Based on Alternative Splicing Event" (students: Lan Yingwu, Xu Fei, and Zhou Shiqin; instructors: Zhang Shichao and Tang Fuzhou).

The 5th National Life Science Innovation & Entrepreneurship Competition for College and University Students was organized by the Teaching Steering Committee for Biotechnology and Bioengineering Disciplines in Colleges and Universities under the Ministry of Education, the Teaching Steering Committee for Food Science and Engineering Disciplines in Colleges and Universities under the Ministry of Education, National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center of Educational Institutions, and the Editorial Office of Biology Teaching in University, and undertaken jointly by Guizhou Normal University and Guizhou Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. The entries submitted by our university were granted with three first prizes for innovation, showing our remarkable achievements made in university student innovation & entrepreneurship education and talent development reform, arousing students' interest in innovation & entrepreneurship, and promoting the major development and discipline construction for students.
