Liu Jian, Vice President of GMU, leading Fu Qihong, Director of Division of International Relations, and Wu Jiahong, Dean of School of Overseas Education, joined the Chinese university delegation built by Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange (CSCSE) under Ministry of Education, and participated in the 2019 OCSC Thailand International Education Expo hosted by the Office of Civil Service Commission (OCSC) in Bangkok, Thailand on November 2-4, 2019. The head of the delegation is Xu Peixiang, Deputy Director of CSCSE. The participants included a total of 415 universities and educational institutions from more than 20 countries and regions including China, the United States, Canada, Japan, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Australia and New Zealand. As one of the largest national exhibition groups of the Expo, China had a total of 46 universities and institutions including the delegation which participated in the Exhibition, fully representing Chinese high-quality educational resources. According to statistics, nearly 220,000 students and parents visited the Expo within two days. The booth of GMU also attracted many Thai young students, parents and higher education colleagues for stay and inquiry. Liu Jian responded to the various questions from students and parents about studying abroad for undergraduate and graduate education at GMU.
M.L. PATCHARAPAKORN DEVAKULA, Secretary-General of OCSC attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech, and Visanu Krua-ngam, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand, gave a video speech. Song Ruoyun, Head of the Education Group of the People’s Republic of China in Royal Thai, came to the Expo and asked the representatives of participating universities to learn about the situation of studying abroad and the cooperation between Chinese and Thai universities.
The members of the delegation visited Mahidol University in Thailand on November 4, 2019. Liu Jian introduced the basic situation of GMU at the symposium, and exchanged and discussed the scientific research cooperation, interscholastic exchange and exchange of students between the two universities. Finally, Liu Jian gave a gift to the representative of Mahidol University.
The participation in the 2019 OCSC Thailand International Education Expo and the visit to Mahidol University has enabled us to further understand the current status and requirements of medical education in Thailand and the needs of Thai students for study, laying a foundation for further promoting international education at GMU.
