WEI Guo-nan, Vice-Governor, Visited GMU

Mar 5th, WEI Guo-nan, Vice-Governor of Guizhou Provincial People’s Government, paid a visit to GMU. ZHOU Minng-qin, Deputy Secretary of Provincial People’s Government, WANG Bi-hai, Deputy Director of Provincial Department of Education, LIN Chang-hu, President of Party Affairs of GMU, LUO Jun and LUO Peng, Vice Presidents of GMU accompanied the whole trip.

Mr. WEI made on-the-spot investigation of the key laboratory of National Ministry of Education—Laboratory of Environmental Pollution Monitoring and Disease Control of Ministry of Education first. Professor ZHANG Ai-hua, director of the laboratory introduced the research progress and achievements of endemic fluorosis and endemic arsenic disease, the featured study in public health and preventative medicine research in GMU. Professor ZHANG also emphasized on the utilization of preventative medicine, environmental medicine, big data and big health to lend support to the service of the local economy and social development.

During the visit, Mr. WEI got konw about the constructions of Public Health and Preventative Medicine as first-tier discipline, including its research direction, achievements, talents reservoir and hard ware construction. Mr. WEI stressed that Double First Tier construction is the major strategic deployment of China to improve the education quality and build world class universities as well as discipline. GMU must grasp this opportunity to make its mark in medical tertiary education in the new era.

Provincial People’s Government has been attaching great importance to the development of disciplines and the construction of research platforms in GMU, which inspires the fellow staff to spare no efforts to make their contribution to the development of medical career in both Guizhou and Southwest of China.
