From Feb. 21 to 25, targeted medical and health measures for poverty alleviation were conducted in Yuzhang town, Qianxinan Prefecture, Guizhou Province by experts from GMU’s Key Laboratory of Environmental Pollution and Disease Monitoring of Ministry of Education (MOE), Guiyang Public Health Center for Medical Treatment, and PLA No. 44 Hospital. They provided not only free health examination and common consulting services but also publicity and education to the local residents and Arsenic patients. Moreover, Hengba Pharmaceutical Company and Weimen Pharmaceutical Company donated commonly used medicine worth of 150,000RMB.
This event, which was supported by local government, hospitals and relevant departments and bureaus, provided a platform for interactions between experts and patients.
This event helped teachers and students from the key lab develop a deeper understanding of China’s targeted poverty alleviation and health poverty alleviation strategies. They also acquired the knowledge of how to apply theory to practice, which possess a positive meaning for the society and themselves.
