On March 22, 2017, Song Yuxia and Zhao Xiaofeng, who are experts of Ministry of Education for the Chinese Government Scholarship Students in China, visited Guizhou Medical University (GMU). Accompanied by He Zhixu, President of GMU, Fu Qihong, Director of the Division of International Relations & School of Overseas Education of GMU, Luo Xi, staff of Department of Education of Guizhou Province Office of International Cooperation and Exchanges and other university officials, the two experts inspected the hardware and software of GMU such as our teachers’ qualifications, course levels, management and logistics. They also visited National Demonstration Base of the School of Basic Medical Sciences, teaching areas of the Department of Anatomy and students' canteens. Moreover, they observed foreign students classes and consulted relevant files and documents to have a better understanding of our teaching levels.
In the afterwards symposium, the two experts fully affirmed our efforts and highly appreciated our achievements. They said that the good top-level design and high starting point of GMU’s overseas students education have contributed to the progress of China’s higher education, especially that of the internationalization of higher medical education. They also offered their advices on the enrollment, training and management of overseas students.
Then, He Zhixu, after expressing a warm welcome to the experts, introduced GMU’s long history in running schools and its profound cultural accumulation. He said that GMU is striving to build a high-level university that has unique features and wide influence both at home and abroad. He pointed out both the strengths and weakness of GMU’s overseas students education and hoped that GMU could become one of the universities to train Chinese Government Scholarship Students in China, thus contributing to the internationalization of China’s higher medical education.
At last, Fu Qihong gave a detailed report on the overall situation of the Division of International Relations & School of Overseas Education as well as valuable experiences and challenges in the process of overseas students education. He also expressed our gratitude to the experts.
