In the morning of July 7th,2016,Professor Liu Meng from neurology and behavioral sciences department of Medical University of South Carolina visited the key laboratory of molecular biology and had academic exchange with members of the key laboratory. Professor Liu gave a lecture on “Neural circuits underlying sleep/wake regulation and sleep disorder Narcolepsy” hosted by Yu Wenfeng，head of the key laboratory.
Professor Guan Zhizhong from Guizhou Medical University gave a brief introduction of Professor Liu. Professor Liu delivered a brilliant lecture on“Neural circuits underlying sleep/wake regulation and sleep disorder Narcolepsy” from its research progress at home and abroad, present study and challenges we faced and on the factor of orexin existing in neural circuits underlying sleep/wake regulation and playing a key role in treating sleep disorder narcolepsy. He also came up with the possible cooperation orientation with Guizhou Medical University in the study of sleep/wake mechanism.

After the lecture, professor Liu shared his experience in scientific research and had a comprehensive exchange and discussion with students and teachers from Guizhou Medical University. He shared his scientific research experience in exploring problems, experimental designs, and improvement of experimental equipments and so on. It created a lively meeting that students and teachers positively asked professor Liu for their questions for the lecture and in their scientific research. We believe that our teachers and students can strengthen their knowledge in neural circuits underlying sleep/wake regulation and sleep disorder narcolepsy and have new understanding for the future of scientific research.
